The students have worked very hard to cooperate as a class and earn gems to fill our rewards jar. We have filled our reward jar now! As a reward the children have voted for a "board game party". Students are invited to bring in a board game from home to use tomorrow (Friday, October 14th) during last block. Wishing everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend with family and friends.
Our Thanksgiving Mass will be on Tuesday, October 12, 2016 at 11:00am in the Gym. All are welcome to attend. Please check back later on today to see photos of all the Thanksgiving activities we have been working on in class this week! (What's Happening Section) I have added a new tab where you can find the Grade 1 weekly word wall words. I will update this section each week with the new words. It is important for your child to be able to read and identify these words in books and when writing simple sentences as it will help them to become more confident readers and writers. At school, we write them in the air, print them on white boards/chalkboards/paper, cheer them, and build them with letters, etc.
Friday, October 7, 2016 is a PD Day. (No School for students.)
LIBRARY books are due on TUESDAY! The students brought home a letter on Friday with their monthly math activity/ game. These activities/games will be sent home monthly in hopes that parents can play these activities/games with their child to help them continue to practise the math skills and concepts that we have learned at school. The math activity/game are yours to keep. If you see your child struggling in any part of the game/activity, please send me a note so that I can contact you to discuss a possible strategy to use when supporting your child's learning at home. The activities/games are designed to challenge and practice concepts we are working on. The students will be bringing home their Snuggle Books beginning on Wednesday this week. Raz-Kids and Dreambox are available for your child to use now. If there is any difficulty, please contact me. Again, thank you for all that you do and for your continued support in your child's learning! |
